Internet Slang: "lol" or "xD" ?

In the past few days i've noticed something different about the gaming chats i go on and the random chats from IMVU i go on. They seem to have different "dialects" if you will. For example: I say something funny in the IMVU chat, and all i get is an lol. Nothing more than lol, every single time. When i say something funny on the gaming chats, *cough http://www.xat.com/GFvNS cough* i get all sorts of messages like "xD" or "roflmao" or something. Another thing i've noticed in the differences in these dialects--now referred to by me as "Casual internet slang" and "Hardcore nerd slang"--is that in the nerd slang, you get a lot of exaggeration of the lols. In the casual slang, the only time you'll get the slightest LOL is if you actually make them lol, whereas in the nerd slang, you say something the tiniest bit funny, and people say lol. You say something that has people laughing out loud, they say rofl. If you have people rolling on the floor laughing, i don't really know what they would say, as they would probably be too preoccupied with rofling.

Okay, so if you didn't know already, i'm a MAJOR CRA fan. Tonight I've been playing a lot of games, and it seems like there's more n00bs and spammers on tonight than usual. I've lost about 5 times because I'm not very good at thinking up counters to spams on the spot. I really gotta work that out, lol...

Okay, so that plan fell through when the guy who was supposed to win it for me decided to steal $100 worth of my friend's stuff and go home, so i've been looking around still.

Chance for an XBox 360

So yesterday my friend Lizardguy92 gets online, and says his friend is coming over with his Xbox360 elite. We start talking and he lets slip that his friend won his xbox 360 on an arcade game, and if he wins another one, he'll give it to Liz. I asked him(if i gave him $100) if he (Liz's friend) would get me one, and he's thinking about it. We'll see come this weekend, maybe... I try not to get my hopes up, but i do anyway! :D
